Department of Geoinformatics

About us

Our department provides the highest level education in three main areas: applied geodesy, navigation, cartography and geomedia technology. We are the only department in Germany to offer such a broad spectrum of education in this field, combined with specific research activities. This means students benefit from an interdisciplinary academic environment where active applied research is ongoing.

We have a large and diverse student body, approximately 12% of our 500 students come from outside Germany. Moreover, our relationships with university and corporate partners in Germany and abroad give students access to unique learning and research opportunities beyond the campus of Munich University of Applied Sciences.

Karlstraße campus

Fittingly for the “cluster building” study courses, our building on Karlstraße is one of the few examples of consistently modern architecture from the rebuilding of Munich in the 1950s. The Karlstraße campus is located near to Karlsplatz (Stachus) in the very centre of Munich. Around 1,500 students are taught in the three departments of the “cluster building”:
